As Sulzer’s “chemical laboratory”, we primarily tested samples from foundries, heating and air conditioning systems, engineering processes, the construction of diesel engines, compressors and turbines, and from medical technology.
With new environmental legislation coming into force, we, as a so-called “central laboratory”, became increasingly involved in the field of environmental Analysis.
For financial reasons, the number of services provided by the “universal laboratory” was reduced, and with it the number of employees. Eventually, the team of over 20 employees became a team of just 4. This small team took on the challenge and seized the opportunity for a management buyout (MBO) in 2000.
Thanks to our sound knowledge and many years of experience, we – as NIUTEC AG, the new laboratory for industry and the environment – have since built up a reliable reputation in the field of chemical analysis and development for the environment, industry and medical technology.

2000 NIUTEC AG
At the end of the 1990s, for financial reasons, the services and thus the number of employees at the “universal laboratory” were steadily reduced. The workforce shrank from over 20 to just 4. This small team took on the challenge and seized the opportunity for a management buyout (MBO) in 2000. This step laid the foundation for a laboratory that carried out routine and special services in chemical analysis. The company NIUTEC AG, the laboratory for the industrial and environmental sectors, was founded.
The name is made up of two parts: “Niu” is an allusion to the English word “new”, highlighting the company’s new beginning, with a novel spelling that refers to the first letters of the two market divisions, “Industrie and Umwelt“, industry and the environment. The second part, “tec”, is a reminder of the company’s origin as Sulzer Innotec.

Today, NIUTEC AG is one of the leading laboratories for chemical analysis and development in the fields of industry, environment and medical technology.
A growing number of highly motivated experts, laboratory technicians and specialists carry out daily analyses as part of the quality management system according to the ISO 9001 standard and the accreditation according to ISO 17025. Our staff are also committed to the development of individual, ecological and economical customer solutions.
